The leading vendors are different:
HDMI is dominated by TV makers (mainly Japanese); DP is led by VESA Association (whose main members are PC and display manufacturers). HDMI requires a license fee, which is paid for each cable produced. DP does not.
Popularity:
In terms of the popularity of the two interfaces, the HDMI interface is obviously more than the DP interface in daily life. Most TVS, projectors and other display devices are HDMI interfaces, and home set-top boxes are also widely used HDMI interfaces. DP interfaces, however, were late to the market and became popular only in the PC world and high-end displays.
